I want to get a dog that stays small and doesnt get very long…. I was wondering how big do teacup maltese get…
and which dog is better…… maltese, yorkie, shih tzu, or pomeranian……
I would say to get a maltese. My sister just got one. They are great with children and hardly shed. They definately don't get very big. Good luck with your new pup!

I recommend you research these breeds and stay away from the teacups

No matter what kind of dog you get… they'll need LOTS of exercise outdoors! I think you should get a yorkie.

They get into VERY bad health. There are no real "teacup" breeds. That s a fancy name for a runt and they are very unhealthy and have tons of life long problems. You should check out petfinder.com! I am sure you will find a dog that you would love to have. Plus you will be saving its life. Good luck!

you should get a yorkie..

Don't get a teacup…they are unhealthy. I would go to the shelter if I were you and find a nice small dog that is already full grown. That way you will know what size it is going to be and adopting will help with the over population that we have in shelters.

be careful getting a teeny tiny dog because they tend to get stepped on. most need a bell to wear on their collar for their own safety. i like fiests for inside

dont buy a teacup!!! unless you are rich and can pay for all the vet bills

STAY AWAY FROM TEACUPS!!!!!!!!!! They get sick very easily and one fall from a bed or couch may kill them! So get a normal sized pomeranian here is a pic of a cute pomeranian puppy: http://www.dogbreedinfo.com/images18/PomeranianPuppyMayaroseGeorgieBoy1.JPG

You need to do research on each breed. I will tell you that all the breeds you mentioned typically have a very high pitched yippy bark. Just think of your neighbors!

I had Maltese and she was the best dog ever. She was protective and hardly shedded. Poodles don't shed either.

There is no such thing as a "TEACUP" it is a runt or worse 2 runts that were bred together. I have a very tiny Shih Tzu (14 oz) at 8 wks, but he is not a "Teacup", and I correct everyone. He came from an excellent show breeder, and he was just not show material, so he was sold as a pet to a person on the weighting list (Me). I love him, but he is not a Teacup.
I am fond of Shih Tzu's obviously. I guess my second choice would be a Maltese. I would do a breed selector quiz, and with all of the listed breeds a lot of grooming is required. You need to prepare yourself for it.

They're all barkers.. get a pug, they're the best, you can look online to get more info about their characteristics. They are not as small as teacup dogs though, they grow to be about 18 to 19 lbs.

As a reminder to everyone there ARE teacup breeds. You didn't mention it but poodles are good. A miniature would be perfect because there not so small you step on them but their not so big they make you fall over and take up alot of room. Poodles don't shed and RARELY get sick. They hardly ever get fleas too. But some people have said that ALL breeds shed… their wrong some breeds do but poodles are the only ones who don't… I have a white miniature poodle. I would highly recommend a shih tzu, although they come in many sizes. I have a female she is 5 yrs old now, she is the smartest dog I have ever had, she only wants to please and love you , she was fairly easy to house break and loves kids more than anything. She is also a good watchdog, lets you know if anybody is around, they do require a lot of grooming but they are worth every bit of it. Can't say enough about her, I have known people who get Shih tzus and they always want more of them.
