I just got a 2 month old teacup female shih tzu and she barks when she is caged inside like a child safety gate and she barks when she is not getting attention.
She has food, water, toys and another female shih tzu to play with, but she still barks.
When I do hold her she is always moving impatiently on my lap and she is always hyper. What can be going on with this puppy??
First you teach it to "Bark:
Then, when it learns how to bark say NO bark.
Of course, you could try ignoring it, but that just might not work,,..
Never give it attention….when it barks
Or…
Get a can, fill it with pennies and shake it at the puppy when it barks. She will learn that when you bark, its bad…
Or you can get a bark collar expensive…
FOR hyperness, take her for a long walk before she goes to sleep or becomes caged, she won't have enough energy at all…
Occupy her with a toy..
(KONG stuffed with peanutbutter)
btw. we have answers liek this allll the time, search before you waste a precious 10 points.

Maybe you should let her move around more and open the cage sometimes and train her.

well you have a puppy they have a lot of energy…the best way to get a dog to stop barking for no reason is to train them to bark on command…then they want to be paid for barking rather then just doing it.

yell shut up and stare it down with a glare

I HIGHLY reccommend a clicker training class. I took my puppy, and it was AWESOME!
We attended at our local humane society. It was half the cost of pet store classes, and much better class structure.

you bought a TEACUP dog, behavior problems, high vet bills, extremely short life span. Welcome to the world of teacup dogs, a wonderful place filled with lies, deceit, bankruptcy, and above all ignorance.

She’s a puppy. thats whats wrong. leave her grow up a bit and she wont be so hyper.

When she is not getting attention and she barks, just ignore her ’till she stops, then after a few minutes of not barking, give her attention.

Its just common behavior for dogs. they get vocal when they don’t have what they want. Get a bark collar or if you think that’s inhumane get a collar that sprayes citronella when the dog barks.

Um i personally deal with a ANNOYING DOG he is 2 years old i would personally get her a chochokeain and get a lease and hooke the lease up to the chain that chokes and set her up on the leg of a bed or where she can reach her cage shouldn’t be a “place to live” or a Timeout Spot

Teaching your puppy not to bark will take patience and consistency but i assure you that it can be done. First of all, when you are home it is important to leave the gate open so she has the freedom to go in and out as she likes. place toys in there or play fetch with her in there so she knows that it is a comfortable place to be and it isn’t punishment. When you do leave and she needs to be placed inside the gate wait for her to start barking and carefully grab the back of her neck and say a FIRM “no.” Do this a few times until she quiets down a bit! If she continues to bark still show her no attention until she stops and then praise her. After about a week or so you should see a noticeable change. Hope this helps!

Well first you should do walks at least once a day so then she will be calmer. when she starts to bark get like little bits of treats and train here so when she is in the kennel or anywhere she can lie down and will get a treat and sooner or later she won’t need a treat.
hope i helped
enjoy the puppy
