I want to feed my 8-month old shihtzu male a home cooked meal. Any suggesstions.?

I decided to feed my 8-month old shihtzu home meals, instead of commercial diets. Any suggestions? What people's food is good, what people's food is bad for dogs, specifically this breed?
Thanks

Don't let its gross name fool you, they have great recipes.

You should also read about raw feeding. Thats another great alternative to commercial dog food.

Don't feed dogs people food. Keep the dog on the dog food, they don't hate it.

People food is bad for them in the long run. Feeding little pieces occasionally is fine, but don't give your dog human meals. It can cause them to have higher sodium, sugar, or protein, etc. then needed.

mostly meat and maybe a few veggies. No rice or starch, they don't need it, they get nothing from it. It fills them up and they don't get enough of the meat.

Dogs do better on a raw diet, they don't need cooked food. Google BARF diet & you'll find lots of suggestions.
Well done – I wouldn't eat 100% processed food which is what commercial dog food is & I don't expect my dogs to either.

Feeding your dog a RAW diet is the best possible thing you can do for him.

    The Barf Diet
    The Raw Meaty bones diet
or a pre-made option is Nature's Variety Raw

are the best places for you to start. I'll star your question in hopes my contacts will see it (a few of them are very knowledgeable in this area)

    Hope this helps
    Good luck

you could make beef with beef gravy, if you look it up on the kennel associations website I think they have some recipes. or you could search it.

Your baby is still young and really needs to be on puppy food until it's at least one year. There are a lot of good diets out there that are better for your dog than homemade food. Why are you making this decision? Is your dog picky? Do you not like preservatives? One of the diets my Maltese loves and is a great food with no preservatives is the Solid Gold Wee Bits, & she's very picky. If you do resort to doing a homemade diet…please, do your research, make sure it's well balanced, check with you vet & give a doggy vitamin daily too to ensure he gets all of his nutrients. Best wishes.

I reccomend feeding a BARF diet!
I switched my dogs over to it because they didn't like the dry food.
They absolutely love it! And I believe it's the best thing for them.
Google 'BARF', and you'll get lots of good websites.
    Good luck.

Stay away from corn, onions, avocados, sultanas, grapes, chocolate, almonds or any dairy products (they each have their own reasons)… I recently read that raw eggs/fish may not be all that good for dogs as well..

My dog loves raw meat/mince with pasta/rice and cooked veggies.. cooked/smoked salmon or tuna works a treat as well.. whatever you decide to feed your dog, ensure the meal is low in fat and salt.
