how do I GET MY SHIHTZU not to bark in his crate when I am at work. or go to the bathroom in it.?

my wife And I Just got a shihtzu. I got it for her b-day gift. Now all he does is follow me around the apartment, he did his business in his crate, and he always barks in his crate, when I or my wife is not around. How do I train it not to do this. Oh by the way she is 2 years old.

I would use a towel or blanket that has your scent on it and put that over the gate of the crate. I would also put her in there with some safe bew toys and try not to leave a collar on her while being crated- you don’t want it to catch on anything. Not sure on the size of the crate…but intially make sure the crate has been thoroughly cleaned with a deodarizer to remove all smells of urine and feces then make sure the crate is just beig enough for her to lie down and turn around, extra room created a situation where the dog will sleep on one end and poop and pee in the other.

good luck

I would respectfully suggest you read a couple of books and watch some videos on raising and training dogs. Also, I recommend two TV shows, “The Dog Whisperer” with Cesar Millan on the National Geographic Channel, and “It’s Me or the Dog,” with Victoria Stillwell, on Animal Planet. Both programs are very instructive and often deal with the issues you raise here. Good luck!

First you need to buy a small monkey.

Whenever the dog barks, the monkey will anally violate the dog, teaching the dog not to bark.

And when the dog ‘does his business’ in his crate, the monkey will fling it on the walls, so the problem won’t be in the crate anymore.

put the dog outside before you put the dog in the crate also, when you leave place a blanket over the crate. put toys in the crate so the dog doesn’t get bored.

normally dogs are clean animals they dont like to get their beds dirty so your dog must really have to go if it goes in there. that might solve the situation with the barking too.
