My 2 year old Shih Tzu hates the grass. Positive reinforcement hasn't seemed to help. I can drag him on the grass but then he just stands there refusing to move. He will only go when he has to poo. I'm open to all suggestions because I want to play with him outdoors and not just on concrete, which is very hot in Texas during the summer. Thanks!
Have you tried some toy or snack that the Shih Tzu (ST) likes? Obviously, the dog does not mind the grass too much. Try that.
Good Luck,

Or try your Dog rescue centers. They will give you good advice or point you to right people.

Oh this is an interesting one! The fact that he is willing to go there to potty means that he may be thinking of it as "potty zone only" (well-trained, in a way!) It's rather like encouraging you to socialise in the bathroom..!
I'm sure that this can be gotten around as you are heading along the right lines with your positive reinforcement, but it's probably easier to resolve as a two-way conversation. Drop by here http://whosyadoggy.com/dogforum/index.php and several people will likely chime in to help you.
Good luck!
