How soon will my shih tzu deliver her puppies?

My shih tzu is due any day now, I noticed that she now has milk leaking, does this mean I should stay close to home or could it still be days away? I have been taking her temperature, yesterday morning her temperature dropped but by the afternoon it was right back to normal.

first time moms temps always fluctuate. Its when it consistently stays low that labor is impending. Milk leakage can mean a few days till birth. You just have to stay vigilant, and aware of her actions at all times. Not all dogs nest, or pant, or drop temps. Please have a vet on standby in case anything happens.

If her temp dropped, it will be very soon, most likely in 24 hrs.

she'll probably go into labor soon, keep an eye out on her at all times just in case she needs assistance. Good luck with your shih tzu and the puppies. Congratulations!!!

if this is her first litter, you have no previous history to guide you. So I would not go far, especially as Shih Tzus commonly need ceasareans. An hour could mena the life of her and her puppies, so I'd stick around and keep a close eye on her. Be sure to have your breeding books handy so you can identify the possibility of a problem.

i also think that your dog is about to deliver any time - temperature fluctuations, especially milk
