How soon can I give my five shih tzu puppies a bath?

They are 4 weeks old and they smell. I'd like to give them a bath before owners come and get them at 6 weeks, but I would give them one now too if I knew it wouldn't hurt them because they are smelly!
My bad! I would like to apologize for putting that I was going to sell them at 6 weeks. I will wait 8-10 weeks. Thank you to everyone who caught my mistake! Also thank you to everyone about suggesting the baby wipes!

First of all, the puppies should not go to their new homes until they are at least 8 weeks old- preferably 9-12 week. 6 week is too young, particularly for a toy breed. You should not even start seriously weaning the puppies until closer to 5 weeks- you can offer a puppy mush but they should still be nursing.

That being said, use baby wipes. I would not recommend bathing a puppy any earlier than 6 weeks and would prefer you wait until 8 weeks. They should not be that smelly unless their play/sleep area is not being kept clean.

The owners should be coming to get them at eight weeks, not six. They'll be much better off for the extra two weeks.

They're a little young to bathe, but you can use baby wipes or a wet cloth to wipe them off a little and make them smell a bit fresher.

It won't hurt them just make sure they don't fall into the water.

I DONT THINK IT WILL HURT THEM TO GIVE THEM A BATH IN A BOWL BUT DONT USE A LOT OF SOAP AND MAKE SURE U GET IT OFF GOOD R IT WILL IRRITATE THEIR SKIN DAWN IS GOOD TO USE ON DOGS

you can either use a baby wash that doesnt sting the eyes or they have puppy wash at any store I prefer johnson and johnson baby shampoo do not use alot and be sure to thouroughly rinse praise them during the bath seems as they will be nervous and you do not want to make this a tramatic experience for them they are just like babies they can be bathed anytime after birth just with gentle soaps and with TLC
p.s. I grew up in the dog breeding business non toxic baby wipes can work as a pick me up too ( a mother died once that is what we used)

You should keep you pups until they are 8 weeks.

Get your dog spayed. If you were planning on selling them at 6 weeks then you shouldn't be breeding. Also, you should know when to bathe a pup before you bred the dog.

You may bathe but be careful. Avoid the head and dry him very well. Get puppy shampoo

For their health & safety please don't let them go until 8 weeks old
For now, use a warm wet washcloth to clean them. I'd wait for 6 weeks before letting people around them. Never know what germs they have especially on their shoes, don't want them to get Parvo! You need to give them their shots & worming & give it a day or 2 for it to kick in. If necessary send or email them photos

I would say wait until they are at least 8 weeks old to give the puppies to thier new mommy's and daddy's only because i receive my puppy at 8 weeks exactly and he was still sucking on his blanket for a week or so… My other puppy i receive when she was almost 10 weeks and she never did that. And i would say with the bath just use the baby or puppy shampoo and stay away from the ears and eyes, make sure to dry them good so they dont catch a chill (turn the heat up in the house).
