when do shih tzu dogs get their testicles?

Technically, in utero. When do they drop out of the abdomen to be carried outside of the body? Generally around three or four months, though I have seen a 9-week pup with descended testicles. If the dog's testicles haven't dropped by six months, they most likely won't and the vet will need to remove them surgically.

Like all dogs, they're born with them. They don't become visible outside the body, i.e drop through the inguinal ring, until they are around 5 months of age. Book your dog in to be neutered if he's 5 months or older. The vet will check him over when you bring him in and if both testicles are present he can be neutered, if not they'll probably advise you to return in a month.
