what does it mean if my shih tzu dog is drooling alot? is it bad?

it started today when i found a homeless dog and brought it in. is this drooling a reaction of jealousy? or is it a transmitted disease from the homeless dog. oh yea and my dog already had its rabies shots, bt still what is the causeof this/ what is this drooling?

Kudos to you for bringing in a homeless dog! Good job! I think the drooling could be a sign of jelousy, but you may want to get it checked out..

You don't say how old your shih tzu is. If he's a puppy, it may be caused by teething. If it's an adult, it may be something as serious as a stroke, as well as being a disease. There are other diseases besides rabies that dogs can get. For example, there's parvovirus, distemper, bordatella, and more.

Yes, your shih tzu could have caught it from the homeless dog. I'd take them both to the vet for a thorough check up as soon as you can, if you plan to keep the homeless dog. If you don't plan to keep it, take it to a shelter. But they both need to be seen by a vet ASAP.

Usually, when a dog drools, it is a sign of nausea. Your dog might also have something caught in the roof of it's mouth.

I would take your dog to the vet and have it looked at.

    Good Luck!

You should never introduce a stray animal to your pet until you have had the stray examined & vaccinated & have kept it completely separate from your pet for at least two weeks in the event that a disease is incubating. Your dog may have picked up a disease from it. Has your shih tzu had other shots, like for parvo etc, or only a rabies shot? If it never drooled before, I would suspect an illness & see a vet immediately. Drooling can be a symptom of several problems, including bad teeth.
