Anyone who owned a Shih Tzu?

I just got a 8 weeks old Shih Tzu puppy yesterday from a breeder, the puppy hardly barks, and makes grunting noise from his snout, is this usually in this breed of dogs?
I'm worried about him, thanks in advance.
Is it normal for them to make that noise?
Grunting noise

Yes I've owned Shih Tzus. Have you taken him to the vet for his well-puppy check yet?

ADD:

Brachycephalic breeds have a more difficult time breathing, and will generally make more noise than a "normal" dog.

Still, it's best to have your vet give your new puppy a complete check up.

Pups don't always bark right away…
I have a dog that didn't make a peep until she was 8 mo. old…
When ever you get a pup from anyone you should go to the vet with in the first few days to get them checked……

We have had 2 Shih-Tzus for 3 years and this is extremely common. Don't sweat it. They also snore quite a bit. One reason is they have short snouts. Any dog with this feature seem to have irregular breathing patterns. Hope this helps.

My grandparents have 3 shih tzus they rarely bark. The grunting could be an inverted sneeze, my pomeranian had that problem. You shoudl check with your vet when you take him in for his shots.
