My dog is a Shih-Tzu X Maltese. I am wondering how big she'll get?
She's about 17 weeks old and she's the size of a medium Chihuahua. She's been growing fast, too. Her mom was a Shih-Tzu and her dad was a Maltese. I think she has more of her mom in her because her mom was black and white and her dad was white…so if you know what she'll look like, please help me.
You can't tell what genes a dog picked up just cause the dog has the colouring of the mother. She could be big as one breed, as small as the other, or somewhere in between. IF both breeds prior to being bred ( unlikely) were bred to standard.. Then you will get something right around the two breeds.. Very likely the two dogs bred were poor quality and not bred to standard so either could be too big or too small.. So you could end up with anything at all.

Hard to know with any mix but my best guest would be in the 9-12 lb. range. All of it could depend on if here mom was small for the breed or her dad was large for the breed, etc. She's not going to be very big either way because both breeds are small dogs. Her coloring should already be pretty much set with some variations developing up to 6 mos. I'm sure she will be adorable either way! BOL!

I really don't think it matters which dog she looks like. My dog is a pit mix and he is CONSIDERABLY shorter than he should be yet, his coloring and other physical attributes are exactly that of an apbt.
