what kind of dog should i get?

i need a small dog we are thinking of an imperial shih tzu (don't say asnything about this dog breed) NO chinease cresteds my mom doesn't like them
i already have 2 dogs at home a mediumlargeish sized dog and a small dog
i asked my mother and she said i might be able to go to our local shelter and get a dog but please keep posting and if so please post any websites that you know of

i want a playful hyper dog

try looking at the dogs at the shelters. they always get in pure and mix small breed dogs. You might be able to find what you are looking for at the shelter. you can also look at

www.petfinder.com

there are thousands of dogs looking for good homes. As of the breed I would try a shith tzu, chih, or maybe an small terrier mix type of dog.

Those are pretty good dogs. Depends of how much you want to spend i guess. Yorkies are good dogs too…very smart!

Well, what type of dog attitude are you looking for..?
Crazy and fun— A boy yorkie is FUN!
Calm and relaxing dog— A girl yorkie if OK…
Yorkies are great, but way to expensive

First look at barking and grooming. Little dogs bark a lot and need constant brushing.
Smaller Chihuahua and smaller boxers need little grooming and shed less.
Pekinese and Maltese need lots of grooming but there bark is much less harse sounding.
Yorkies have a high shrill pitch bark and need constant grooming.
Shit tzu's don't bark as much but have bad eye problems and their coats cost tons to keep pretty.
Any small terrier blend would be a smart best friend but their coats are wiry.
Don't base your decission on how cute they are at birth.
Check out the barks, Cost of upkeep and most importantly their vet bills. Good luck.

A west highland terrier is a good dog and it is small or a Lasaopsa.

Try a toy poodle. Mine gets along fine with my big dog.

Right now, I own a soft coated wheaten terrier. He's 40 lbs, about 16inches at the shoulder. That might be too big for you though, I highly recommend them.

I've heard of a lot of other good dogs such as the bischon(sp?), toy poodle, and havanesse.

Also I heard of a few mixes which most people like alot. Like the cockapoo, havapoo, lhasapoos, and others. Poodle mixes are great because they have the great temperment of a poodle, and they don't shed. depending on what dog the poodle is bred with, the size changes. The ones I listed above (havapoo, cockapoo), are all small.

I hope this helps you!
