Me and my husband are planning to get an imperial for $2000, do you guys think it's worth that much????
no
And I bred shih tzus for over ten years, so I would tell you if it was worth it.
The teacup/mini/pocket/imperial varieties of pets die easily. They do exist, but I know they die easily. I get about one or two calls a week wanting a chihuahua puppy because someone had a tc from another breeder that died. It is the most common story that I hear from people who want a puppy. Everyone wants very small dogs, but it comes at a price in health. Not all of them are healthy at this point in time. And I would never pay $2000 for one. I just wouldn't do it.

NO!
"Imperial" is just a term used by back yard breeders and puppy mills to sell an unhealthy runt for a huge price tag. That puppy is NOT worth that much! I would RUN from any breeder who sells "imperials".
Shih Tzus are just Shih Tzus.. there are no teacup, toy, mini, imperial, micromini, or any other version of the breed.
If you want a Shih Tzu, try http://www.petfinder.com to find one thru rescue, or get a breeder referral from the breed's parent club.. they can refer you to a reputable breeder who breeds for health and temperment. http://www.shihtzu.org/

Only a total idiot would even consider that ad to not be somewhat suggestive. Apparently you & your husband fit that description…..sad,sad,sad.

Look for a reputable breeder in your area by visiting AKC.org. Such a price for a dog is normally reserved for puppies of show champions. Check for the initials "Ch" on puppy's pedigree before you agree to such a high price.
If you're not particularly interested in buying a show champion's offspring, then you could probably find a solid purebred Shih Tzu for $750 or less, including guarantees for health.

If I were you I would stay away from that breeder! It sounds extorionate price for a dog of any breed! Have a look on the usa kennel club website and search for a breeder on there, at least you know you will get quality for your money instead of who knows what! Its like breeders that are crossing pedigrees to produce a crossbreed and charging twice as much for it totally rediculous and i think something should be done about it!
Please visit the usa kennel club will be well worth it if you have that kind of money to spend!
Good luck.

That would depend on the pedigree. Some dogs can be worth more than that but it's all in the pedigree. In my opinion, if I were just wanting a pet, I would not pay that much for any breed of dog. However, if I wanted a good quality show/breeding dog, I definately would if the pedigree was good.

I dont know about that but a shih tzu puppy i saw was $1500, it was sort of fancy.

I dont know alot about that breed but I have seen some champions at this price. You should find a reputable breeder and ask him/her exactly what you are looking for. Find the breeders who are showing with their dogs if you are willing to pay that price so not only you'll have a healty dog but you'll be able to get some professionnal service if a day you have some problem with your dog since a good breeder know his stuff and is always happy to help the families where are his puppies.
And I dont know what mean Imerpial (I'm french speaker) but I have never seen that word in any serious site about that breed, thats not another word to make it much more attractive?

You know, I found a Micro pocket tiny teacup imperial shih tzu for $10000.
In my mind, it is nothing more than a sick runt that is worth NOTHING.
