say NOTHING of what kind of dog i'm getting!
i was wondering if there is any special things my puupy will need… i have 2 dogs but they are 4-6 YEARS away from a puppy so i haven't really remembered how to keep puppies healthy (besides vet care)
what i men by healthy is contempt
Crate definitely for starters. He (and your other dogs) needs a space of his own.

Sturdy leash and collar or harness.
His own food bowl, (feed him in the crate to help prevent problems)
Extra water bowl would not be a bad idea either.
Some old towels for in the crate.
Toys – nylabone for chewing.
Quality dog food like Canidae.
Lots of love and affection.
Keep him separate from the other dogs (with crates, baby gates) until they adjust to him, they may gang up on him. A neutral meeting ground is always a good idea. (a park, at the very least walk them around the block together, then bring him in last)
Be sure and get new toys / treats for the others as well.

There are no such thing as an Imperial Shih Tzu..Breeders will tell you that to get more money for their dogs. They are just small Shih Tzu that they breed down and put a fancy name to. If is up to you to buy what they call an Imperial.. Just wanted you to know there is no such thing.

Hi There! I have a new shih tzu puppy also. I lost my 4 year old shih tzu to the tainted dog food. I am buying Merrick holistic food for her and she is thriving on it. It has no dyes and that helps with the tear staining also. I do have one suggestion that works for me. When you pick up your puppy take a couple of cheap receiving blankets from the dollar store or an old towel with you. Rub it all over the mother dog. Wrap your new baby in the towel to take her home and then put the towel in her bed. This will keep her from crying at night for her Mom. If your baby has tear staining I use Eye Envy tear stain remover and get it from a very sweet lady on ebay. Here are the websites for merrick dog food and Eye Envy.
