The breeder I got her from told me she was too young to get a haircut, but didnt tell me how old she had to be to get one. Can someone help?
She can get a haircut at any time, its more about the level of training she has received than anything else – she needs to be good at staying still, well adjusted to other people, and of course you must train her not to bite.
I'd wait a little while before you get her hair cut, just so you can get her used to things that dog groomers do.
Hold her paws regularly, checking the nails as you do so – this will help her get used to the feeling of groomers cutting her nails. Hold her face gently and check around her eyes, check her teeth – this will also help the vet for when he needs to do a check up. Get her used to new people by introducing your friends and family to her, and also its very important to introduce her to other dogs so that she won't freak out when she meets them in later life.
All this stuff should be done while she is still young so she doesn't get a complex about it later (introductions to new dogs should be done after she gets her full round of shots and flea treatment).

Giver her a couple more weeks. At this age she can get baths and brushed. I have a shihtzu 9 years old.

Wait until she has her basic training under her collar, you or the groomer needs to be able to handle her without her flipping out.
Start by brushing, combing, bathing, blow drying her. When she behaves herself with those activities and doesn't panic, bite, or squirm (too much), then she should be ready for her first trim…

start now by giving her a small bath to get her used tp being bathed and handled by a groomer and then dry her using your hairdryer on a low heat setting and that will get her slowly used to being groomed

when the hair gets in her eyes it’s time for her haircut

I own 4 shih tzu and you are better waiting until they are a year to clip them>mine are clipped all year round,
but remember once you clip[ them if you let there coats grow back they never grow back the same ,my dogs looked like sheep.
you need to let the puppy coat grow first which takes 6 months then let the adult coat come through which takes until a year then you can clip if you want to

I think that is up to you. There is a manual out that you can do it yourself since she is too young to go somewhere without shots. Go here and there is links for it.
