shih tzu housebreaking problems?

Hi I have 5month old shih tzu its a male and I potty and pee pee train him on the newspaper but somethings he poops or pee in the carpet or in corners not on the newspaper I bought a dog potty trainer but still help me any good sites that are free.
And also I have his barking problems he keeps barking please help me

Thanks in Advance.

I agree. Skip the newspapers for potty training and take your dog outside. If you start with newspapers, it will make him think that it’s OK to pee and poop in the house.

I would try crate train your dog. It’s pro baby one of the quickest and easiest ways to do.

I’ll add some free links for you, since it would take too much space to copy and paste.

Good luck.

You shouldnt use newspaper to potty train a dog. Everytime your dog goes to the bathroom on the floor, you say NO very strict, and put him outside so he understands that he is not allowed to go to the bathroom in the house. I did this with a 3 of my dogs and they were trained in less than a few days.

Here’s a little story about our Shih Tsu and housebreaking. He was a very stubborn puppy and he knew he was supposed to ‘go’ outside. When he was good he always got a piece of cheese. When he would go on the floor in front of me, I would say NO and calmly get the cheese out of the fridge and show it to him. Then I would show him the spot on the floor and say, “Sorry, No Cheese”…and put the cheese away. Within a day or so, he decided to go outside all the time so he could get his favorite cheese.

My Shih Tzu is a rescue dog and I cannot housebreak him. He is so paper trained, he holds it outside till he comes in and goes on the paper. I tried taking the paper away and he will go where the paper was. I have even left him tied outside for a length of time nothing. What is a mother to do? He was over a year old when I got. I have no history on him.

He is a very smart dog and I have trained him in other things but not housebreaking. Help
