Shih Tzu For Sale

Hi,
I just volunteered for the SPCA and they have very nice staffs. At our shelter we have an officer inspecter. I’ve know this petstore that sells dogs, budgies, hamsters (i think), bunnies and a lovebird.

You see, it says ” No Photographs ” and I understand that, but I broke the rules for a purpose. The shih tzu puppy was stuck in a metal cage no bigger for it to take 3 steps and back, and the cage is probably only maybe 4 inches taller than the puppy itself. They don’t have any toys or towels/blankets, and walk and sleep on the metal bars beneath them…Oh, and they have a rabbit water bottle to drink out of..that is attached to the cage. Then they have around 5 bunnies in one average home bunny cage and they’re wee tiny bunnies, for sale… $85 bucks. I’m not as concerned about the bunnies as I am for dogs though. Their budgies are crammed in a hamster like cage, only taller. The cage length’s is bigger that it’s width…

Now, their lovebird is stuck in a small budgie cage…they also have aquatics, which to mee seems fine. When I asked the man who worked there how much the dogs were…he said he didn’t know and for me to ask the lady in the flowered shirt. When i asked her she was like ” The shih tzu is 1200, and the Lhasa Apso Mix is 950 ”

Redicolous? Of course.
So is this considered as animal cruelty?

I have the pictures on my dad’s cell phone..since it was they only way to get some shots. The thing is, we just moved so he lost his cord for transfering files. We’re searching for it now, but I am so very concerned. Should I report it as animal cruelty?

I already talked to the inspecter and she said she would like to see any proof first. So here I am with the pictures.

However, I would love to hear your opinion on this. Would you categorize this as animal cruelty ?

It’s no surprise that pet store scum place astronomical prices on these poor animals. There are many dangers to living in tight/close quarters. Muscle atrophy, kennel cough, etc…these are just a few of the consequences.

If I were you, I would definitely file a report with a local humane society. It’s not right. Put yourself in their shoes…24 hours in cramped quarters, neglected and without adequate padding for their little feet…it’s just plain wrong.

I recently accepted a £100 non refundable deposit on one of my shih tzu puppies, i got an email last week from the buyer who says that, he had spoken to someone who bought a puppy from me last year, that the puppy had had to be put down as he had a heart condition and that he was concerned about purchasing the puppy from me, itold him the vets had checked the puppys and gave them a clean bill of health only 7 days prior to this email, and that i was in touch with 2 of the 3 people i sold the puppies to last summer, and had emails about 2-3mths ago saying they were good and with update pics of them, i had even shown him the pics of the puppys when he came to view his puppy. He has now decided to pull out of the sale of the puppy, but has not offered me any info about the allogation about the other puppy being put to sleep no names address of the people who bought the pups or details of the vet who put the dog to sleep he now wants his deposit back. I explained to him that the advert said non refundable he was told verbaly it was non refundable and was given a reciept saying it was non refundable when he gave me the money. He has now told me he is going to take me to court to claim his money back that it is not legal to keep the deposit, im sure it is legal as it was a contract between us which he agreed to. The emails he sent me leading up to this sounded a bit dodgy apart from the fact that the puppies i sold were not sold to anyone on the estate he lives they were sold elsewhere, what are the actual chances of him knowing someone who bought a puppy from me there are over 300.000 people living around are area. Can someone give me any advice on what to do, i am going to speak to someone first thing on monday morning. this is the email he has sent me.

I AM REQUESTING THAT YOU CUT UR LOSSES AND THAT YOU PAY ME THE £100 DEPOSIT BACK 2 ME OR DEDUCTE A REASONABLE AMOUNT 4 ANY LOSSES CAUSED. AND GIVE ME BACK THE REMAINING AMOUNT
I AM MAKING TIME OF THE ESSENCE
I WILL EXPECT YOU TO GET BACK TO ME WITHIN 7 DAYS
REGARDING THIS MATTER.. he then proceeded to get one of his friends to email me pretending to want to buy the puppy, which i thought was a bit dodgy as i wasnt advertising them at that time. he then replied to me saying
I AM AWARE THAT U ARE NOW SELLING THE PUPPY IF U DONT GET BACK IN TOUCH WITH US REGARDING THE DEPOSIT THEN I WILL HAVE NO CHOICE BUT 2 TAKE U 2 COURT BECAUSE I NO MY RIGHTS AND WERE WE STAND AND WE ARE ENTITLED 2 IT BACK.. AS I HAVE REPORTED THIS MATTER 2 CONSUMER DIRECT AND THEY HAVE REPORTED IT 2 TRADING STANDARDS..

What would you do?

I think the guy is just trying to scare you into giving him his money back. If the receipt stated it was non refundable he doesn’t have much to stand on. Is he really going to take you to court for £100 ?

Where can i find them in the san bernadino county , temecula, or riverside area?

Check petfinder, your local shelter or try looking up your local Shih Tzu breed club or get a breeder referral from the national club.

i was reading through some previous questions where people questioned online puppy sales. i have been breeding shih tzu puppies for 5 years and most of them have been sold online and 2 have been shipped from dubbo NSW to Sydney to perth. i keep in contact with the buyers and show both parents and all of the pups. i suppose what im trying to say is that there are so many genuine people out there trying to earn a little extra cash and its the people that have puppy farms that spoil it for every one else
whats the difference from buying online to buying out of a paper i dont see a difference

So, what is your question? This just seems like a rant to me. And, as a personal preference *I* would never buy a puppy on line because I’d want to see, in person, the place where the puppy was bred and raised AND at least see the bitch.

To the person who asked about the difference between on line and a newspaper, generally newspaper ads are relatively local.

(Of course, these days I’d only adopt through a rescue, but if I WERE to buy a puppy, never on line.)

This little guy is coming from a very small dad. Will be fun to see how big he gets. Mom is about 13 pounds and dad is about 7. He has the pretty black and white coat and mom is such a gentle loving mom so her puppies should be as sweet …
